Samhain or Halloween as it is better known is the day of the year when the veil between worlds is thinnest and the dead walk amongst us. It is the time of year to remember our ancestors and pay our respects to recently departed loved ones. Feasts are held in their honour and candles are lit in remembrance.
Black and orange are the traditional colours and pumpkin lanterns are set in the windows of houses to prevent evil from entering the home.
